Colleagues from the Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge (METK) visited the Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava".

The Genetic Resource Centre and Laboratory of Plant Physiology of LSFRI "Silava" were presented to Estonian scientists: senior researcher Dainis Ruņģis and researcher Agnese Gailīte introduced the latest developments in the field of conservation and research of Latvian genetic resources and the gene bank of Latvian field crops. Liina Jakobson, head of the Department of Plant Biotechnology of Estonian Center for Rural Research and Science, presented the latest research at the Estonian organization.

During the visit various issues were discussed: the conservation of genetic resources, in vitro cultures, molecular research, as well as opportunities for cooperation.
