  • Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava" is a member of International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) since 1980.
  • LSFRI "Silava" represents Latvia and since 1995 is a member of the European Forest Institute (EFI) – the leading European forest research network, in which research institutions from 35 countries conduct joint coordinated research.
  • LSFRI "Silava" actively participates in the forest research activities financed by the Nordic Forest Research SNS, mostly ensuring the exchange of young scientists and information in the following projects: Center for Advanced Research CAR's, Operational Systems of Forests OSCAR, Forest pathology PATHCAR, forest genetics GENCAR.
  • Genetic Resources Center (GRC) of LSFRI "Silava" is a partner of the European Cooperative Program for Plant Genetic Resources ECPGR in the field of plant genetic resources, cooperation with Northern Gene Bank NordGen is underway. The specialists of GRC are members of the European Association for Research on Plant Breeding EUCARPIA.
  • As a form of international cooperation, the publication of forestry journal of the Baltic States Baltic Forestry, should be noted.
  •  LSFRI "Silava" actively uses the support offered by EU funds for science and research: Active EU funded projects.
  • Participation in the COST (European Cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research) programe actions:
