Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme project
Project partners are Swedish Forest Agency (Skogsstyrelsen; leading partner), The Forestry Research Institute of Sweden, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Natural Resources Institute Finland, Metsähallitus, LSFRI "Silava", Lithuanian Research Centre for Agriculture and Forestry, Forest Research Institute Poland, WWF Russia, Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Total project budget is 1,059,125 EUR, incl. Interreg contribution 828,825 EUR and LSFRI "Silava" budget 80,000 EUR
The aim of the WAMBAF Tool Box is to continue activities initiated during WAMBAF (Water management in Baltic Forests, 2016–2019), developing further the tools created in this initial stage with the aim to reduce leaching of nutrients and mercury to waterbodies in the result of forest management (with specific emphasis on drainage system maintenance, forest buffers and beaver management).
Planned activities:
- Development of wet area maps, machine learning;
- Development of beaver impact maps;
- Translation of WAMBAF films;
- Development of forest drainage system maintenance manual;
- Training courses;
- Action plan meetings.
