The project aim is to develop the practical guidelines for establishment and maintenance of short-rotation poplar plantations on agricultural fields. The field performance of already established plantations will be assessed in relation to the soil properties and establishment methods to find optimal management practice for maximizing the productivity of poplar.
Research activities:
- Establishment of sample plots in poplar stands planted on agricultural lands.
- Soil sampling and analysis.
- Establishment of demo short rotation poplar plantation.
- Dissemination activities – seminars and popular publications.
- Development of good practice guidelines for establishment of short rotation poplar plantations in Latvia.
