Study supported bu the Hunting Management Development fund
In Latvia, general animal records serve as the basis for planning hunting farms and regulating hunting load, but they require large resources, their results are not accurate enough and are easily disputed. The aim of the study is, basing on the analysis of scientific literature, the experience of experts and a methodology developed through discussions, to find indirect, easily detectable indicators that connect the number of animals and the density of populations with their inhabited environment and indicate the directions and extents in which the population should be regulated.
