Nordic and Baltic cooperation project, supported by Nordic Forest Research Cooperation Committee SNS
The leading partner of the project is Forestry Research Institute of Sweden Skogforsk.
The general aim of the study is to quantify the leaching of carbon (C), nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) from the soil in the Nordic and Baltic countries, in order to characterize the background level of leaching in forest lands and to quantitatively assess various forestry activities (logging, soil preparation, forest melioration, fertilization and ash utilization) on leaching dynamics. The qualitative indicators of soil water and runoff water will be used in the research, gathering information that is available within the framework of various monitoring programs in the countries participating in the project.
