In the course of the study it is planned to find out the possibilities of using different concentrations of urea to reduce the spread of root rot. Previous studies in Latvia have analyzed the antagonistic effect of biological preparations (containing Phlebiopsis gigantea spores) on the development of root rot in coniferous tree stumps. As the P. gigantea is sensitive to drought the use of urea in spruce stands during the warm season could be more beneficial than biological preparations.
The aim of the study is to develop technology with urea to prevent root rot infection caused by Heterobasidion spp.
Result of the study: a prototype of a chemical stump treatment agent.
