Study sopported by JSC Latvia's State Forests and SC Latvijas Finieris
The main task of the research is to improve the practice of birch stands establishment and management with the aim to increase the productivity and vitality of birch forests thereby developing solutions and recommendations for support of sustainable and economically sound forest management. The six-stage study consists of a series of tasks aimed at enhancing of the genetically improved birch seed production, improving the reforestation practices and exploring the potential for promoting the growth and vitality of young stands.
