The public event on research collaboration “Strengthening Research Impact Through Nordic-Baltic Collaboration, was held at the office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Latvia on May 27. The event aimed to strengthen research collaboration between the Nordic and Baltic countries. Scientists from LSFRI 'Silava' — Zane Kļaviņa, Ivars Kļaviņš and Zane Lībiete — also participated.
The event highlighted success stories of Latvian researchers in NordForsk research funding calls, including achievements in the field of sustainable forestry.
The programme also featured a panel discussion on the role of Nordic-Baltic cooperation in strengthening research quality, international visibility and societal impact, as well as presentations on future priority areas for collaboration. The event concluded with a networking session, providing participants with an opportunity to establish new professional contacts.
Representatives of LSFRI 'Silava' Zane Kļaviņa and Ivars Kļaviņš presented the NordForsk-funded research project Adapting drained forests to future climates: Ensuring sustainable forest production, water quality and biodiversity (AdaptDam), launched in March this year. Zane Lībiete participated in a panel discussion on the importance of Nordic-Baltic partnerships for the advancement of science and strengthening the impact of research.
The event demonstrated that close regional cooperation is an essential prerequisite for scientific excellence, the development of innovation, and the effective pursuit of solutions to shared societal challenges.
