On Saturday, May 9, scientists from the Latvian State Forest Research Institute 'Silava', Kaspars Polmanis and Kristīne Kenigsvalde participated in the forest knowledge and environmental education event "Forest Days", held in 'Ogres Zilie kalni'.

At the event, scientists from 'Silava' offered visitors educational activities at the themed station "Non-timber forest products: Game about fungi and forest diseases". Participants had the opportunity to learn interesting facts about various fungi found both on deadwood and on living trees, as well as test their knowledge by identifying important tree species based on their wood and bark. Visitors could also find out which organisms in the forest are friends and which pose threats.

'Silava' would like to thank the event organizers for the successful cooperation, as well as the visitors for their engagement and interest. Participation in "Forest Days" is important for strengthening the dialogue between science and society, fostering a better understanding of the importance of forests and the preservation of a sustainable environment.
