Latvian State Forest Research Institute 'Silava', in cooperation with the European Environment Agency (EEA), organized the 1st national meeting of the National Collaboration Programme in Latvia of Copernicus Land Monitoring Service on April 24. The event was held online via Microsoft Teams.

The meeting brought together participants who use or plan to use Copernicus land monitoring data in their work, including for monitoring land cover, forests, wetlands, and habitats.

During the event, EEA experts introduced the opportunities offered by the Copernicus programme and the objectives of the National Collaboration Programme, while Latvian researchers and sector specialists shared their experience in the practical application of satellite data — from landscape connectivity analysis to forest mapping and habitat distribution assessment.

The aim of the meeting was to promote knowledge exchange, strengthen cooperation among data users, and encourage wider use of Copernicus data in Latvia.
