On September 26, the Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava", in cooperation with Salaspils Municipality, hosted the annual European Researchers' Night under the theme "Forest Science Afternoon". The main event attracted 496 visitors, including students, teachers, families, and nature enthusiasts from across Latvia.
Throughout the day, visitors explored forest, climate, and environmental research through interactive exhibits, laboratory tours, and engaging activities — from camera traps and fungi diversity to drones in research and tree growth measurement.
The program featured lectures, student presentations, and the opening of the art and science exhibition "Beyond the Frame: Sensing Nature in Sound and Breath", in collaboration with Salaspils Music and Art School.
Additional activities extended into September and October, including a science session for secondary students and hands-on environmental education workshops for over 100 preschoolers.
The event showcased "Silava's" commitment to science communication, sustainability, and climate adaptation — connecting generations through the lens of forest science.
