At the Spring plenary session of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (LAS), Latvia's most outstanding scientists were honoured with eleven named awards and five Young Scientist Awards. Also researchers of LSFRI 'Silava' were among the laureates, highlighting the Institute's significant contribution to the development of forest science in Latvia.
The Kaspars Bušs' Award in Forest Ecology and Silviculture was awarded to researcher of LSFRI 'Silava', Dr.biol. Baiba Bambe for her important contribution to the preservation of Kaspars Bušs' scientific legacy, as well as for her research on Latvia's forest and peatland ecosystems.

Meanwhile, the Young Forest Scientist Awards of the Latvian Academy of Sciences were granted to researchers of LSFRI 'Silava': Ph.D. Aldis Butlers for his work on improving greenhouse gas accounting and forecasting methods, and Mg.biol. Gundega Done for her research on the impact of deer species on forest regeneration.
