The Latvian State Forest Research Institute 'Silava' has acquired 63 computers and 15 monitors as part of the project Development of research and innovation capacity at LSFRI 'Silava' (2025–2029), with the aim of modernising its research infrastructure and strengthening its scientific research capacity.
The equipment includes 48 laptops, 15 desktop computers and 15 monitors. Some of the equipment has already been distributed to Institute staff.
The new computer equipment enables more efficient processing of large datasets, geospatial data, LiDAR data and images. It also supports field research, sensor diagnostics, insect monitoring and spatial data analysis. This reduces the time required for technical tasks, allowing researchers to focus more on research and the analysis of results.
The computer equipment upgrade forms part of broader investments in strengthening the Institute's research and innovation capacity, supporting the development of forest science, forest tree breeding and woody plant adaptation research in Latvia.

The project "Development of research and innovation capacity at LSFRI 'Silava' (2025–2029)" (agreement No. 1.1.1.2/1/25/I/011) is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and implemented in cooperation with the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA). The Project aims to strengthen the research and innovation capacity of LSFRI 'Silava' by modernising its research infrastructure and introducing advanced technologies.
